KATA at Comrie Croft by Ella McQueen

We left our house at lunchtime and drove in the van to pick up Mum. Once we picked up Mum from her work we drove straight to McDonalds because everyone was hungry. We also grabbed some BBQs from the garage. The drive took ages, felt like 24 hours! I asked 3 times, “Are we nearly there yet?” In the back we had 3 mountain bikes, mine, Freya’s and Dads. We also had lots of bedding and food and Dad’s beer.

When we arrived we checked in at the shop and they gave us the key code for KATA number 1. We were allowed to take the van up the steep hill to KATA number 1 and unpack our stuff. The KATA didn’t look much from the outside but there was a swing!

You needed the code to get in. When we went inside it was small but very cosy and there was only one big bed! Then we unpacked, when we finished unpacking we looked at the toilet which was made of wood and outside and although wasn’t too bad wasn’t too good either. I managed to only go to the toilet once all weekend.

After this we got on our bikes and cycled right onto the trails that were right next door to the KATA.

At the start of the trails there was a really big hill, it kinda went up and up past the pond and round and over a wee bridge. Then it turned left and went up more of a hill up a track. We then turned right onto the first blue loop. It was bumpy and very rocky but still really good and really fast. Then we came to some double bits where one person could go on the left and one on the right and it was really fast. It then went down a bit further, back round and up and back to the KATA. Later in the day me and Dad also did the 2nd Blue Loop which had and even bigger climb up a higher hill. Basically, a mountain. Then we came down on the rocks and bumps and there was also a double bit of trail here as well which then joined onto the other bit we had done already and back round to the bottom. These trails are AWESOME!

As well as the trails there is a pump track at the bottom of the big hill. Me and Freya went on everything there, at first it was quite hard but then it got easy with practice. I really enjoyed it but its not as good as the pump track at Larbert.

After the biking we went to the KATA and we had dinner outside with the BBQ. Then we toasted some marshmallows on the fire, mum set hers on fire! We went inside the KATA and had a few games of cards #iwon then me and Freya went to bed. It was really comfy and cozy.

Comrie Croft was really good because of the great trails and the swing and the fire and the pump track but not the toilet. We had a great time and we will go back. Out of 10 I give it 9.5. I would really recommend Comrie Croft to any bike clubbers who like mountain biking.
