FJBC COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS) UPDATE

As you will most likely be aware, updated guidance was issued by the Scottish Government on Monday 16th March. It states the following: to slow the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) the general public are being asked to stay at home as much as possible and avoid unnecessary social contact.

The Club Committee met on Monday 16th March to discuss our next steps.

The situation and advice is changing rapidly but the health and wellbeing of our riders, families, coaches and volunteers is of the utmost importance to us. As a result we have taken the decision to suspend all club activities with immediate effect.

This is not a situation we anticipated finding ourselves in, especially at the start of the year. However, the seriousness of this pandemic has necessitated such action.

We are mindful that this situation could make family life difficult in the short to medium term, and we will therefore be reducing all Direct Debit payments to £0 for the payments being taken at the end of March, April, May and June. We will review this situation towards the end of June to determine if further reductions are required.

PLEASE NOTE: Paul Burns our Treasurer will make this reduction through our GoCardless system. Please do not cancel your direct debit as this is the guarantee of your child’s place within the club. If you cancel your Direct Debit, your child will automatically revert back to the waiting list.

For those that have recently joined, your induction payment will cover your next two sessions when the club resumes.

This decision also affects the other following planned activities:

  • Road Masterclass at Fife Cycle Park (22nd March)

  • Mini-DH Masterclass at Aberfoyle (TBC April)

  • MTB Easter Camp (7th/8th April)

  • FJBC Dirt Crit (24th May)

  • FJBC Club Champs (6th June)

  • FJBC Awards Evening (20th June)

All above sessions/events are cancelled.

It is our intention, where possible, to reschedule these for later in the year when the situation becomes clearer.

The club will remain in contact with all members over the course of the next few weeks and months. We are not yet clear on when a return to club sessions will be possible, but remain in close contact with Scottish Cycling to determine this.

Should you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to get in touch.
